October 31 in Ponta Delgada, Azores

We had an early breakfast and then left the ship to walk around the city.  We did not dock until 10:00 AM this morning and will depart at 5:00PM.  The tours offered by Princess and other private tour companies did not appeal to us.  They all went up to look at lakes formed by a Volcano.  Although the scenery was probably nice the long bus ride did not appeal to us.

We walked around the city center, took some pictures and the found a ice cream stand and bought a cone and set on a short wall and watched the harbor.  We headed back to the ship and noticed a open-air tour bus stopped in front of the terminal.  We asked about the tour and it was only for an hour and it was around a part of the city we would not access on foot.  The tour was interesting, we got to see some of the nicer homes, some of the not so nice districts, some more monuments, and churches.  The commentary was in English, which was nice.  All in all we enjoyed the tour very much.

Tonight we had dinner with 3 other couples and had a very good time.  The company was probably better than the food, although the food was OK.  One couple from England was especially interesting.

We now head west toward West End in Bermuda.  We will be at sea for four days before reaching there.  Hope the ocean stays smooth.
